It has been a long time since I have posted any updated here on my blog. Before I go on about ClipCollecotr, let me tell you what I hope to have coming soon:
- I have been working on a joint project for a new Gadget. I cannot reveal any details at this point, and I know I have referred to it in the past, but it should be coming real soon.
- I am still collecting material for a Part 6 in my Developing Sidebar Gadgets series. I hope to post that in the next few weeks.
- I am also about a month away from another gadget I have been working on.
Finally, I have found some time to update ClipCollector to version 2.0. I have added the most requested feature and that is the ability to save the clips so that they will still be in your collection after a Windows reboot. And if you do not like this feature you can also turn it off in the Settings flyout.
Like any updates, it should be a day or two before it is live on the gallery so keep an eye out for it, update it and then let me know what you think.
I really like the Clip Collector. Here\’s an idea for the save since I\’m sure you are looking for ways to fill your time. You see only some of the data like my company contact info, Shipping address, should be saved between sessions. It work be nice if I could mark the clips I wanted to keep.
I was really impressed with this Clip Collector gadget. However, the contrast between button text and clipboard could be better, perhaps a choice of backgrounds could be offered.
very cool utility – I installed it today and set the limit at 60Only disapointment was when it reached 60.. i thought it would just start replacing entries FIFO but it just replaces the last one over & over… when you get time, it would be helpful if it deleted the oldest each time once the limit was reached,

I have seen this happen sometimes, but usually it is when there is another application interferring with the clipboard or the clipboard gets into a bad state. Here are some suggestions:
1) Reboot your system. Primarily to determine if it is a problem with the clipboard itself.
2) If that does not work, uninstall the gadget go back to the gallery and reinstall it.
3) If that does not work, then most likely another application you recently installed must have some clipboard functionality that is interferring with it. Uninstall that aplication or turn off that functionality if you can identify it and see if it works.
Love the gadget! A nice feature for the next release it to have it show a list of recent clips and allow clicking on one to put it on the active clipboard. Sometimes the clip I want is way back in the history, and clicking “previous” 15 or 20 times is tedious.
Still a very handy gadget for those that still use gadgets, so thank you for that.
I too have found that sometimes it is a bit annoying to forget that when it reaches the max set clips, it effectively stops recording the clipboard, rather than dumping the oldest clip.
Also, right click and copy from chrome browser sometimes fails to put the copied content into the memory
